There’s a particular kind of courage in being seen.
Not the polished, camera-ready version of yourself… but the honest one. The one in transition. The one mid-breath, mid-choice, mid-life.
This space exists for that version of you.
I’m Heather, and this blog is an extension of how I photograph: slowly, intentionally, with deep respect for autonomy and truth. I work with film because it asks me to pay attention. To wait. To trust what’s unfolding instead of trying to control it. And because the moments that matter most don’t need to be perfected… they need to be witnessed.
Over the years, my work has taken shape around birth, family, and the human body. Around people choosing to be seen exactly as they are. Around stories that are layered, tender, messy, political, sacred, and deeply personal. I’ve learned that when someone feels safe enough to let themselves be witnessed, something shifts. The image becomes more than documentation… it becomes proof.
This blog will be a place where I share more of that truth.
You’ll find reflections on birth and bodily autonomy. Thoughts on why film matters to me. Stories from sessions (shared with care and consent). Notes on creativity, grief, pleasure, parenthood, and the quiet bravery it takes to show up in your own life. Sometimes it will be visual. Sometimes it will be raw. Sometimes it will just be a few honest paragraphs that didn’t want to stay quiet.
I’m not here to sell perfection. I don’t believe in it.
I believe in choice. In consent. In honoring people exactly where they are. In images that feel like memory instead of performance. In slowing down long enough to notice what’s real.
If you’re here, I’m glad you found your way. Take your time. Look around. Let yourself linger.
This is a good place to begin.
